The car - we got it!

2003 Sentra with a little high miles at an attractive Price. Perfect condition! certified by Carfax and firestone. With Sun roof, premuim speakers and power everything… Dream car..

I fell in love with it at first sight. Test drive was good. Someone had already finalized the deal, but had to get a loan to finance it. So we had a chance. Sunday morning, we called up to check if we still had the car, we did! Borrowed a phone from Shylu (I havent received my phone yet!).

Since Poornima did not want to drive on the highway, we took the Broad street, right from the airport to west end. The Phone was used to sync up and get advise on directions. After a marathon call for 46 minutes and around 43 signals later we reached home. I was relaxed thinking that the only thing remaining now was to do a Vahan pooja and we are all set. I will return the rental tomorrow morning and then will drive my own car! We looked up a temple around 3 miles away and decided to get there by 10.

The car - Finding the temple

Sunday morning we got up early at 9:00 (thats relative to sunday). Poornima drove the rental and I drove my car to Enterprise car rentals. Returned it a day earlier than schedule. I had taken down the directions for the temple. We started to go towards Springfield Road. 6051 Springfield Road. How difficult it could be?

I am not in good terms with Virginia roads. For those 3 miles, I covered a distance of around 10 miles searching. What is called as 6051 Springfield Road is actually on Mountain Road! Anyways we reached there to find we are the only ones there. The whole location was empty. After some time the priest came there. He informed me that the temple opens up only at 11 and we can come around 1.30 for the vahan pooja. He also gave us a list of things that we were suppossed to get for the pooja. We got those on our way back home from the Indian stores. Went home prepared some lunch and got ready for the way back.

Back to US

In every trip to US before this, I have not reached together with my luggage. This time was different. I reached with 2 of the most heavy suitcases that I have carried, each weighing 2kgs. I was lucky that I did not have to pay extra!

This time Poornima was already in US. That made a lot of things easier. I already had an address before landing :) So I had just to come in and relax… Or so I thought. I took a car on rent on the sunday for a week. And then the thing that we are doing since past 8 months started all over again… travel.

In the next 2 weeks I covered the entire Richmond city and the areas around it. Hunting for furniture, cars and usual shopping. We got a nice sofa and a oversized chair, a TV, a good (and expensive!!) bed, a coffee table (for free!). Also got our internet connection after “borrowing” it from DALS for some time. Then we got a car…
